Delirium
Today I found mini fake fruits and made a headband out of them! This blog is turning into "Minna uses a hot glue gun to stick junk to headbands" but I'm so excited about this one! It was inspired by Carmen Miranda but it's a more subtle approach. I also got this skirt which is AMAZING, and doesn't look particularly so in the photograph - it's a fully lined original 1960s mini and the fabric is an incredible metallic pink knit. Hoorah!
I am super excited about my fruit headband though. I think I will wear it to an exhibition opening I have coming up. I would crap on about my fruit headband for longer but I'll spare you. This opening is my first real show outside of University. I am sharing the space with my friend Georgie. Our work is going to look really wild together, we are at two opposite ends of the spectrum. Georgie's colours are organic and mine are acidic - she works on the horizontal picture plain and I work on the vertical. We are going to play up these differences, so our works call and answer each other.
You heard it here first... the show is called 'HALOS AND PLATEAUS' and will open on February 3rd at Rearview ARI in Smith Street, Melbourne http://www.rearviewgallery.com.au/ Put it in your diary! Don't just pencil it in, pen it in! If you have a diary that is. I don't have one yet for 2012. I really need to get one. Okay. Sorry for being bossy you don't have to come or get a diary it's just that I've been locked up in my bedroom that is now my studio and bedroom, doing paintings for this thing and I'd love for other human beings to see them. I'll flog this exhibition more closer to the date anyway. By then I'll be clinically insane.
Um... fruit headband fruit headband fruit headband! Sorry. I feel like over the holidays my brain turns to complete mush as do my blog posts. "Hello. I Minna. I blog." I'm so, so, so sorry. Rest assured soon enough I'll have my head in my hands again! Oh happy day.
