Telephone Line
I've been wanting to make one of the
for ages now. Today I had lots of spare time so I went to the $2 shop and bought lots of head bands and fake flowers and ribbon and had a crafternoon. I really wanted pom poms but they didn't have any! Above are the finished products anyway.
I think I mentioned that I was going to watch Almost Famous the other night. I just love that movie. When I was 15 this girl I knew told me that I reminded her of Penny Lane and I'd never seen the movie so I went and hired it. At 15 I was really into peace sign necklaces and Woodstock and I had these huge original 1970s Dior sunglasses which I got for $3 at Savers so after watching Almost Famous I was totally in love with her and totally flattered at this comparison so I'd kind of play it up.
Although I'd never have the guts to wear those sunglasses now (They are so incredibly outrageous, I'll have to photograph them one day) needless to say I still have a soft spot for Miss. Penny Lane as fictional as she may be - while I was making my headdresses today I was listening to Electric Light Orchestra and I got really into the 70s vibes. Then I made this playlist. Sometimes when I make playlists I like to think they are a soundtrack to a movie that exists in my head. For me the 1970s feel kind of sad but happy and the songs are often really melancholy and yearning. I just love the scene in Almost Famous when Penny is getting her stomach pumped, and My Cherie Amour starts playing. That is kind of how I would describe the sad and happy. I also have to talk about my favourite Electric Light Orchestra song which is Telephone Line. It is absolutely heavenly and if it was visual it would be grainy and sepia toned...
